On staying in JA

Today my official boss told me over messenger, “I’m so glad you’re staying in JA. I think it’s good for JA to have people like you.” after I got a certain job done quickly and with a lot of initiative.

Unfortunately, he’s my official boss, and not my actual boss, and he has no control over the work I do, nor my position and status in the firm. He said he would try to influence the bosses with whatever limited relations he has with them, but eh, he’s kinda like me, the non-bootlicking bo chap honest kinda guy.

And nice guys finish last, you know?

On what NOT to wear to work

If you’re clumsy, scatterbrained, and completely clueless like me, always wear clothes that are firmly attached to your person at all times. Wear only items that cannot be detached from your person except by a complicated series of maneoveures or by some violent ripping.

I was wearing this very nice silk long blouse over my black pants, and it goes with a nice long ribbon that I have to wind around my waist, and knot it in a little ribbon at the side. A very lovely blouse, and a very lovely ribbon to match, and it made me feel extra confident on this fine fateful day.

I was standing in the lift lobby, smiling at two colleagues whom I do not know. They were smiling back expectantly at me. “Perhaps they want to start a conversation?” I thought. People who were here often strike up random small talk in the lift lobby or in the lift.

“Excuse me, would that happen to be your belt? I think it fell off while you were walking out.”

Uh. Indeed it was. I was standing at the lift lobby, looking really stupid, with my blouse flaring unflattering outwards, and my belt was lying on the floor 3 metres behind me.

Like, shitto.

Feeding Time in the Office

There is this new guy in the office, he sits beside me, and he comes with an almost unending supply of food.

I had TWO – I think I was being majorly greedy. I had a chocolate one, and then the cheese one, which I swear never to have again.

Donut = sweet and yummy
Chilli flakes = spicy
Spicy cheese = Strange but salty

A combination of the above = BLEARRGHH

I had it at about 4 pm, and I was nauseous til about 10, when I finally had my dinner. DONUTS DO NOT GO WITH SPICY CHEESE, people!!

(P.s. the offending cheese donut is the one in the bottom left of the screen)

On top of donuts, this guy also comes with Honey Stars, a large tin of Khong Guan biscuits, and gum. I have shortbread, Cheezels, brownies and potato chips which I stuff into his biscuit tin. It’s amazing, where we sit. We’re now getting popular around tea time because people pop by to steal food.
